Family Values: The Artist’s Children

William Dixon Plaque

Family Values:
The Artist’s Children

Painted by William Dixon at Herculaneum, Liverpool and dated 1812, discovered by Michael Mays.
This charming stipple painted plaque is inscribed on the reverse indicating that the subject is the children of the artist and, as such, must have been a family keepsake.

The plaque compares with one other extant portrait study made by William Dixon which now forms part of the National Museums & Galleries Collection on Merseyside.
